The Council actively promotes and publicizes investment opportunities in the Yangtze economic region in Hong Kong, North America and Europe. A series of activities are from time to time organized with the aim of enhancing understanding and economic cooperation between Hong Kong and overseas investors and entrepreneurs in the Yangtze economic region. Interested members are welcomed to attend the events.

The Council is considering the feasibility of additional training programmes in the Yangtze Region for officials and managers who have responsibility for selection and presentation of investment opportunities and projects.

Nov 20, 2003 - Nov 22, 2003 Three-Cities Foreign Investment Conference, Chongqing
Organized by the Yangtze Council and supported by the Chongqing Municipal Government which will be led by Mr. Vincent Lo, President of the Yangtze Council and Chairman and CEO of the Shui On Group of companies. The Hon. Mr. Xu Jialu, Vice Chairman of the National Peoples' Congress, will come to accompany the delegation and take part in the conference. Please see attachment for details.

The Expo will last 6 days, attended by enterprises, investment organs and academic units from Shanghai and other cities along Yangtze River, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan as well as those from United States, Europe, Japan and Southeast Asian countries.

Apr 19, 2002 Press Release on WEF China Business Summit 2002 (April 18-20, 2002 in Beijing)
The Council announced plans for an extensive U.S. and European tour to highlight the region’s strengths – and the Council’s role – to prospective investors. The announcement was made at a press briefing at the World Economic Forum’s China Business Summit 2002, being held this week in Beijing.
Mar 1, 2001 - Mar 2, 2001 Yangtze Investment Project Expo
The Council organised the Yangtze Investment Project Expo and Shanghai-HongKong Economic Development and Cooperation Conference on 1-2 March, with the theme "Yangtze Development and China's WTO Membership". The Mayor of Shanghai, Prof Xu Kuangdi, gave the keynote speech at the Conference. Both events were very well attended by visitors from Hong Kong and the Mainland.

Mr Ian Howard, Principal Consultant of the Yangtze Council, went to US for a one-month roadshow to introduce the investment environment of the Yangtze Region to the US SMEs.

Report on the Yangtze Council Research were made to The Hon Tung Chee Hwa, Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR, and Prof Xu Kuang Di, Mayor of Shanghai; and also to major HKSAR officials in charge of financial affairs and PRC officials stationed in Hong Kong.

Deputy Secretary-General Fei Fih and Principal Consultant Ian Howard of Yangtze Council participated in the "Shanghai-Hong Kong Metropolitan City Development Seminar". Subsequently Mr Howard visited Chongqing and conducted a preliminary market and project research for the Yangtze Fund.
May 29, 2000 - May 31, 2000 Promote investment opportunities in the Yangtze Region
President Vincent HS Lo, Deputy Secretary-General Fei Fih, and Principal Consultant Ian Howard met with Consul-Generals of Italy, Finland, Sweden, Germany and France to promote investment opportunities in the Yangtze Region and to prepare for the upcoming roadshow in US and Europe.
May 15, 2000 Set-up "Yangtze Investment Fund"
"Yangtze Investment Fund" was set-up and "Yangtze Venture Ltd" was also formed to oversee the management and operation of the fund.
Apr 13, 2000 - Apr 15, 2000 International Tourist Festival in Yangzhou City
A delegation led by Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General of the Yangtze Council attended the International Tourist Festival in Yangzhou City.
Dec 3, 1999 Shanghai-Hong Kong Cooperation towards the 21st Century
A full day seminar was held in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Topics included "Shanghai-Hong Kong Cooperation towards the 21st Century" and "China's Access in the WTO". Guest speakers included Prof Woo Chia-Wei, Mr Wilfred YW Wong, Mr Cai Lai Xing, Prof Chan Yue Shu, etc. Congratulatory messages were delivered by Mayor Xu Kong Di and Mr Tung Chee Hwa, Chief Executive of HKSAR. The seminar was well attended by more than 400 guests from the business and professional communities, government officials and senior executives of China's state-owned enterprises in Hong Kong
Dec 2, 1999 Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Development and Cooperation Conference
Led by Vice Mayor Chiang Yi Ren, a Shanghai Government delegation of 30 people arrived Hong Kong to attend the "Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Development and Cooperation Conference". The Shanghai Government delegation, accompanied by President Vincent HS Lo and Vice President Wilfred Wong, met with Sir Donald Tsang, The Financial Secretary of Hong Kong SAR, and exchange views on Shanghai and Hong Kong co-operation.
Sep 2, 1999 Preparation of the "99 Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Development and Cooperation Conference"
In preparation of the Conference, a working group was formed with members coming from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, etc to study the issue of "HongKong-After China's access to WTO" and "Evaluation of Investment Opportunities in Yangtze Region". The working group also examined and searched for industry comments, and wrote a report on Hong Kong's finance, insurance, retail, services, manufacturing, etc.
Aug 31, 1999 99 Wuhan Business Fair for Investment Environment and Projects
Co-organized "99 Wuhan Business Fair for Investment Environment and Projects" with Wuhan Municipal Government. Headed by Deputy Mayor of Wuhan Yin Zeng Tao, a delegation of more than 10 people arrived in Hong Kong. Mayor Yin and Mr Henry Cheng, Managing Director of New World Development Co Ltd delivered speeches on specific issue respectively. The fair was well received with more than 200 participants from local chambers and the international business community in Hong Kong.

President Vincent HS Lo, was invited as a keynote speaker at the "Investment Opportunities in the Yangtze Region" organized by the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in China (HKCCC) in Beijing.
May 6, 1999 Hong Kong Connection
"Hong Kong Connection" of Radio Television Hong Kong(RTHK) produced a special documentary account of Hong Kong investments in Northern China and the potential of the Yangtze Delta to be another development region after the Pearl River Delta. It also introduced the establishment of Yangtze Council with interviews of President Vincent HS Lo and Vice President Wilfred Wong. A RTHK production team was sent to cover the Hong Kong delegates trip to the Yangtze cities, to explore the investment opportunities and to interview Prof Wang Zhan in Shanghai.

Conducted the survey among members of the chambers and business associations, well-known individuals and leading figures of the Hong Kong business community. A press conference was held on release the report of the survey "Investment in the Yangtze Basin" on February 8.
